Welcome to the Halloween party

Post Image

Halloween is my favorite time of year, and it seems everyone wants to get into the party, including Fab.com.  While I wasn’t surprised when the folks over at PunchBowl got into the game, I was pretty surprised and intrigued when I saw Fab was selling Rasta Imposta Costumes.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Rasta – they are an awesome team and do a fantastic job in their niche. But, “every day design”, um… No.

We all know Fab.com started as a gay social network, and then changed into a flash sales site (I’ve purchased three things, and love each one) but now they’re selling Halloween costumes geared to the beer and cigarettes crowd?  Clearly they’re lost in this space, despite their awesomeness they should not be selling Rasta on Fab.com, nor should you be selling costumes with an uncertain delivery date.  This is going to be a painful lesson in seasonal retail for Fab.com and a bitter disappointment for customers who put their Halloween fate in a newcomer.
