My next chapter

Dear friends and colleagues;

I wanted to let everyone know that as of today, December 2nd I’ll be leaving BUYSEASONS to pursue other opportunities.

What?  Yes, I’m leaving the company I started over 10 years ago, but don’t worry, you’ll be in good hands.   Dan Haight, Terry Rowinski, Neil McCafferty and David Karst are well positioned to take over the reins and lead BUYSEASONS.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the all the employees at  BUYSEASONS for your hard work and dedication.  While many of you may not know me that well, not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for everything you’ve done.  From the bottom of my heart – Thank you.

I feel we’ve built this company together, and many of you can remember the early days, long before nice offices, powered conveyors, or even a lunchroom.  I can honestly say some of the best times of my life we’re spent working in the warehouse getting packages out the door, camped out in IT, hoping the site would make it through the day, and even those times when money was tight – so tight that I had to forego a paycheck of my own.

You should know that 2010 was a record year for BUYSEASONS.  We had record sales, record customers, record orders, and most importantly, record profits. Our recently announced expansion is a testament to our success. BUYSEASONS is stronger than ever.

So why leave?  Well, there is no easy answer, but the simplest response I can give is I’m a builder, not a consolidator.  Meaning, I thrive on being in the thick of it, doing the impossible and going against the odds to build a company from the ground up.  As BUYSEASONS has grown, I’ve become more focused on the big picture, and while I’ve adapted well to this role, and count the acquisition and consolidation of Celebrate Express as one of my most proud accomplishments, it is not something that is best suited to my entrepreneurial skills.  Simply put, I thrive on building companies, and as many of you know, BUYSEASONS was not my first successful Company, nor I suspect will it be my last.

The best is yet to come.
